We began dinghy sailing on our local lake, and year by year progressed to larger boats as we discovered different sailing styles. One year, Jack discovered what was then known as "Moane" : MacGregors Owners Association of New England. Over the years we have both served in various capacities in Moane, now known as North East Trailer Sailors www.NE-TS.com . Through our association with NETS, we have learned several things about sailing:

Sailors are a unique cultural group of people who thrive on helping one another , whether it be to become a better sailor, provide advice, or even concrete assistance in the form of tools or active help. You will always find someone on the water to help you . And the cameraderie of the sailing community is equal to none we have experienced in other venues.

Sailing is about skills, about getting to know your strengths and weaknesses . Sailing is about control and the lack thereof, and what you do with yourself and your boat when only certain things are within your control.

There are many ways to improve your enjoyment of sailing. Upgrading your gear is one way. Improving your safety is another. Making sure that you can communicate well with your boatmates and shorebound loved ones is also critical to having a good time on the water. And not least important, is educating yourself and your boatmates and gaining experience so you feel ready to meet the demands which sailing will place on you.

In the spirit of the sailing community, we offer you safe, effective ways to "Stay Connected": Stay connected to your boat under adverse conditions; stay in close communication with your boatmates in challenging situations; stay connected to the world beyond your boat, where ever you may be.
